Full time faculty

Cullen Bailey Burns
Cullen Grew up in Michigan and attended Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University, where she received an MA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing. She is the author of a book of poetry, Paper Boat, which was a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award, and her poems have been published in numerous magazines. In addition to English 90, 1021 and 1022, frequently she teaches Minnesota Writers, Children's Literature and Creative Writing.
Carl Gerriets
M.A., University of Louisville, 1996
Carl Gerriets is renowned as a world leader in writing about himself in the third person. When he is not thus occupied, he is usually reading, writing, or talking about comics. He enjoys teaching at Century because his students always manage to surprise him.
Carol Jacobson

Brian C. Lewis
Hails from Detroit, Michigan and earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Wayne State University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Critical Studies in the Teaching of English from Michigan State University in 2004. At Century, he teaches English 0090, 1021, 1022 as well as American Literature courses, Literature and Film, Short Novel, and Introduction to GLBT Studies. His teaching and research interests include gender and sexuality issues, composing in digital environments, visual literacies, general education assessment, and online writing centers.

Part time faculty

Jill Cadwell
Jill has taught at Century for five years. She received her Master's degree in "Teaching College English" and Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in English composition and a minor in human relations, from St. Cloud State University. Jill loves teaching English because she is fascinated by all the nuances of written communication, she likes working with people, and she thrives on her own continued learning.
Dianne Del Giorno
MALS
Dianne has taught high school classes and teacher preparation courses. A former member of the Minnesota Sate Board of Teaching, she now specializes in teaching English 80 and 90. She has developed magnetic learning and teaching tools and has presented workshops on their use in instruction and formative assessment.
Don Flanagan
Don was first a Hoya (Georgetown University, B.A.) and later a Gopher (University of Minnesota, Ph.D.). Since then he has been a teacher, editor, copy writer, advertising manager, PR flack, marketing executive, and-completing the circle-a teacher once again. In his writing courses, he tries to convey to students the lessons learned in his 25 years of experience beyond the groves of academe.
Laurie Lykken
Graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a B.A. in English and of Minnesota State University, Mankato with an MFA in Creative Writing. Special areas of interest include children's literature, world literature, poetry, Greek and Roman mythology, and teaching online. Future goals include creating learning objects and games to reinforce English grammar rules.
Susan E. Taylor
Master of Fine Arts with Fiction emphasis and a Minor degree in Rhetoric, Composition and Literacy Studies from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. B.A. in English Language and Literature, California State University at Los Angeles. Paralegal Studies, San Francisco State University. General Education: City College of San Francisco.
Major interests: Teaching, flash fiction, prose poetry, creative nonfiction, narrative theory, and writing by working class, borderland, and feminist writers. Courses: Developmental Writing, College Composition, Introduction to Literature, Academic Research, and Writing, Contemporary World Literature and Literature and Film.
