Program description

The Reading/Study Skills Center at Century College helps you learn the necessary reading skills to succeed in college. We can help you:

  • Learn new ideas
  • Become more efficient
  • Develop self-assurance
  • Gain knowledge and other points of view
  • Draw conclusions
  • Gather facts
  • Enjoy reading as a hobby

Open to all students!

The Reading/Study Skills Center is open to all students seeking assistance in reading and study skills. All students may visit the center to:

  • Get ideas on engaging books to read
  • Talk about books with other students
  • Use computers for research and coursework
  • Get reading or study skills help from a peer tutor, lab assistant or instructor
  • Check out library books
  • Visit the children’s library

  • International Reading Conference--Chicago, MNADE, Freshman experience Initiative—1st year experience Colorado Mountain College
  • 1st year experience--26th annual conference Dallas, Texas, RSP/ITeach, Faculty participation in many Century College Teaching Circles
  • Formation, Beyond the Blackboard Project, Seed, Faculty Collaboration in Intra-Campus Programs and Inter-Campus Programs, Service Learning
  • GPS Lifeplan, MSCF—visits to legislature, Wrote and teach many education courses, Reading and ESOL faculty working in SOAR, Collaboration between Reading and ESOL, Teaching at Metro State, Assessment initiatives, Book give-away
