Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)

About the SOAR program

Every college student is unique and so is every college campus. That's why Century College created the SOAR program (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration).

Three-part program

As a new student, you'll be able to enjoy the college and succeed academically if you know the campus. SOAR is a three-hour, three-part orientation program that includes:

  1. Century College welcome
This essential part of orientation gives you with an overview of the college to make your first semester at Century a success. You'll also be introduced to Century's GPS LifePlan - a powerful tool to help you analyze and determine your career, academic, and personal goals.
  2. Get to know other students and prepare for registration
Staff, counselors, faculty, and student ambassadors will introduce you to campus resources and activities in a small group setting. You'll meet other students and prepare for registration by reviewing course offerings and assessment testing results. You'll also begin to build your class schedule.
  3. Register for classes
You'll have an opportunity to search for open sections and register for courses that meet your educational objectives. Counselors, staff, and student ambassadors will be on hand to assist you.

Why you should attend?

All new students are required to attend a SOAR session. Sign up to attend a SOAR session Students who do not attend a SOAR session will not be able to register for courses until late registration, which is done on a walk-in basis. (Courses are limited during late registration).
